Today’s Word: Profundity

Jerry would be an iconoclast. He would delve into the human psyche, plumb the heart’s inner recesses, drive a miner’s wedge between the known of human experience and the yet-to-be-discovered. No mere banalities would serve as killing blade in his hunt for literary perfection. Profundity would be the order of the day. Every Day!

Jerry grinned as these words appeared on the screen before him having lately rolled off his fingertips.

The phone rang.

“Yeah,” he said in a distracted tone.

“Jerry, it’s Caleb, remember me? Your agent, Caleb? You were to have that new romance done last week, man. Where is it?”

Jerry glanced at the corkboard attached to his desk’s flimsy door – the one festooned with bills not a few baring the ominous label: PAST DUE.

He sighed.

“I’ll have it done in three days, Cal. Three days.”

Maybe profundity could wait a little longer.
